GMRC,

Our 2021 club officer elections are now complete and your new board met for the first time last night. We are:

• Timm Huffman – President
• Julia Huffman – Vice President
• Peter Madden – Treasurer
• Muriel Saliba – Secretary
• Narri Dowd – Membership

What surprised me was not the outcome but that so many of you took the time to cast a vote. I find this both encouraging and exciting, as it shows that our community is ready to get back into its stride. 

Your engagement also shows me that you expect a lot of this board, and we have our work cut out for us to preserve our legacy and build a stronger, more connected club. I hope you’ll stay tuned, because we already have a few things in the works for 2021, with plans for more to come. 

But, we can’t do this alone, and the board will be reaching out soon to some of you to ask for your help increasing our activities, and we are also hoping some of you will reach out to us. with your ideas.

Who’s ready for track?

We will kick off the season virtually, Wednesday, April 7. The workout will post early each week, both here and on Facebook.

We will re-evaluate virtual vs. in-person over the next month to determine when we feel it will be safe to begin gathering for our larger group workouts.

Until then, I hope you will grab a few friends and perform the workouts in small groups.

If you’re new to the club, here is a tip sheet on how to follow the weekly prescribed workouts.

This year, we had one nomination for each board position. So, instead of voting for individual names for specific positions, you will simply cast your vote to approve/disapprove the following slate of candidates:

We will be holding elections for club officers this month. Our by-laws call for elections every four years. However, due to several key vacancies, we will hold them this year instead of next. 

Elections will take place in two phases over the next four weeks. Phase 1 is the nomination process, which will be held March 3 – 15. Phase 2 is the election process, which will be held from March 16-31. 

Your current board:

• President – James Porter (stepping down)
• Vice-president – Kathy Jaworksi (stepping down)
• Narri Dowd – Membership Director
• Peter Madden – Treasurer
• Timm Huffman – Secretary

How it works

During the nomination phase, you may nominate yourself or another member of the club (please check with them first) for one of five positions – president, vice president, treasurer, membership director, and secretary. The link to nominate is below.

The nominations will be consolidated onto a ticket, which will be distributed to the club for electronic voting, March 16-31. At the end of the election period, the elected officers will be announced.
